Region: Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
Grape Varietal: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot & 14% Petit Verdot
Rating: Decanter 95, Robert Parker 93, Wine Spectator 93
Tasting Note: The 2001 Pichon-Baron is a strong follow-up to the 2000. It offers more brightness than the millennial, delivering more red fruit on the nose, plus copious raspberry and cranberry fruit mixed with pencil lead, smoke and veins of blood orange. The medium-bodied palate displays fine tannin and crisp red berry fruit, orange peel and graphite. It doesn’t quite possess the length of the 2000, although it retains admirable precision and grace.
