A 2009 vintage from Islay's Bunnahabhain distillery, bottled by Cadenhead. This was matured in two ex-bourbon hogsheads for nine years before being bottled in 2018 at 58.9%. There are 564 bottles in this expression.
On the nose, Soft and pily to star with distant peat. Olive oil, pecan pie and faint antiseptic cream. On the palate, there is nutty and creamy with lemon, peach syrup and raspberry coulis. Hints of engine oil, beeswax and chives. The finish is long and oily; a distant harbour with diesel and green bananas.
Cadenhead is Scotland's oldest independent bottler, having being founded in 1842 as William Cadenhead Limited Wine & Spirit Merchants. It was family owned until it was bought by another family company J&A Mitchell & Co, owners of the Springbank distillery.
