We created Mala after tasting the first versions of Umami. It was so good that what started as the firstborn of Loom Spirits became siblings – Mala and Umami.
Mala – Chinese for 'numbing', 'tingling' (ma) and 'spicy' (la) – lives up to its name. Inspired by the cuisine of Sichuan province, this gin uses the same base botanicals as Umami.
Sichuan pepper delivers floral, citrus, and spicy notes for lasting intensity. The real showstopper is the tingling effect - a subtle nod to some of our favourite Sichuan dishes!
