The 2012 Almaviva is an ultra-premium, Bordeaux-style blend from Puente Alto, Chile—a joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro
Blend: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Carménère, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Merlot.
Aging: 19 months in new French oak barrels.
The 2012 vintage experienced a warm, dry growing season in Puente Alto, resulting in a rich, bold, and structured red wine. It features highly perfumed aromas of dark berries, black cherries, cassis, tobacco, cedar, and subtle cocoa. The mouthfeel is creamy, broad, and round with silky, polished tannins and a long, savory finish. It is currently in its optimal drinking window and can be cellared for further development.
